Mark Dennis Anderson, my music, my life

About Markpiano lessons
Although Mark has been giving lessons since he was in high school, it wasn't until a couple years ago that he realized he could earn his living from teaching. He began asking family friends and neighbors. In no time, word spread and he now boasts a roster of over thirty students ranging in age from six to forty-five

Offering weekly, half-hour sessions in the comfort of his students' home, Mark incorporates both his technical know-how of piano music and his unique ability to keep his students absorbed. His approach is simple: To keep his students engaged and interested by mixing fun and learning. Ask any of his students and they will undoubtedly express their fondness for Mark, who often imitates foreign accents to create interesting characters that both inform and entertain. Whether teaching in distinctive 'pirate' voice of exemplifying the quintessential "Russian' piano teacher, Mark has been known to convey complex musical concepts to his students while remaining playful and lively.

Mark uses the Bastien series instructional books; the same books he learned on when he was just starting out. The books provide a base for his method, which varies from student to student based on on each student's musical interest and learning styles. If a student expresses and interest in jazz or nursery rhymes, Mark adjusts his approach accordingly. Mark believes that no matter what, encouragement is the key to child's success. If a student hasn't practiced between lessons, Mark simply waves off their excuses and gets to work, no sharps or flats about it.
